In final, but unofficial results at 10:04 PM on election day, the Portage County Board of Elections has posted the results of the hotly contested Suffield Township Board of Trustees race. Tom Calcei polled 955 votes and will return for a third consecutive term as trustee. Political newcomer Jared Phillip took the second open trustees seat by gathering 798 votes. Dave Vartenuk, a trustee for eight of the last twelve years, got 665 votes and Nick Skeriotis received 512 votes. Jeff Eldreth's seat was not up for election this year.
As stated, these results have not been certified, but are the work product of the Portage County Board of Elections. Also on the ballot and of interest to Suffield property owners is the Field Local School 8.3 mil tax levy. The levy was defeated 2,662 - 2,092 or 56-44%. Also the five-way race for Field School Board membership was decided with Randy Porter, Steve Calcei and Julie Kline winning the three available seats. Porter received 2,093 votes, while Calcei received 2,057, and Kline 1,963. Christine Tuel got 1,849 votes and Amanda Seiler got 1,170.
