The Suffield Board of Trustees met to conduct business on Tuesday evening November 12th. The first matter of business was to hear a presentation from Randy Snyder of Graphic Detail, Inc on the planned purchase of a new electronic sign for in front of the historic Town Hall. Snyder markets signs that are made in the USA by Watchfire. The trustees had plenty of questions for Snyder. The plan is to have a representative of Watchfire come to the Town Hall this Friday to give a demonstration of an actual sign.
The next portion of the meeting was a lengthy presentation by Bob Warner and Joel Testa of the Testa Companies concerning their project at that old West Country Club. They asked the trustees to endorse the annexation of three parcels of land into the Village of Mogadore. The trustees did pass a resolution allowing the annexation of .77 acres. This would allow the Testa Companies the ability to re-plat several planned lots, which would be acceptable by Mogadore Village standards, but too small by Suffield Township Zoning standards. They tabled endorsing annexation on two other parcels, one of about nine acres, and one of about ten acres.
Fire Chief Bob Rasnick gave his monthly report. He said that firemen had responded to 88 calls for service, which brings the yearly total to 706 calls. Rasnick also asked the trustees to hire Katie Weiland as the newest firefighter. They did so, and, as usual, stipulated she serve a one year probationary period.
Trustee Jeff Eldreth said that the Palm Road project was pretty much completed, except that the roadway still needs to be repaved. No date for this paving has been set. He also asked the trustees to advertise for a full time Road Department worker. He hopes that this new worker could be on the payroll by the end of the year. Chairman Tom Calcei said that the Christmas lights should be put up by the first week of December and like all things, the cost has gone up from $1,800 last year to $1,850 this year. The annual Christmas With Santa will be at the historic Town Hall on Sunday December 9th beginning at 6:00 PM. Last year, this event drew about one hundred children from the Suffield community. Christmas With Santa is sponsored by the Suffield League. Calcei also mentioned that the annual Toys For Tots at the Goodyear Blimp Base 1 will take place on December 7, 8 & 9th.
The trustees next meet on Tuesday November 27th at 7:00 AM. The Zoning Commission meets on Wednesday November 14th at 7:00 PM. Both meetings are at the Suffield Community Room at 1256 Waterloo Road. The Board of Zoning Appeals has no hearings set.
