 John Yeargin Is Zoning Commission Chairman For 2018

Veteran Zoning Commission member John C. Yeargin was again elected as Chairman for 2018. Jeff Childers was re-elected Vice Chairman at their Re-Organizational Meeting on January 10th.  New members to the 2018 Zoning Commission are William G. Evans and Mason Kisamore, both serving as alternates.

Don Monroe Elected Chairman Of The Board Of Zoning Appeals

Don Monroe was elected as Chairman for the 2018 Board of Zoning AppealsVictoria Vincent was elected Vice Chairman at the Board's "Re-Organizational Meeting" held on January 2nd.  A hearing followed and Greg Spickard was granted a needed variance in order to split a 27 acre lot at 2450 Waterloo Road.  After reviewing the facts available, David G. Duma motioned to allow the variance, which was then seconded by David Einloth.  The Board voted 5-0 to allow the variance.

LEAF DUMP IS NOW CLOSED

Many thanks from the Suffield Township Board of Trustees to the resident at 558 Etter Road who provided Suffield residents with a place to dump their leaves this past fall.  However, now that the snow has begun the leaf dump has closed for the year 2017.

 

Suffield Looks To Hire Part Time Road Worker

Suffield Township is hiring to fill a year round Part-Time Road Crew position. Duties to include, but not limited to: assist road crew with general road maintenance and township building maintenance. Qualified candidates must have a valid Ohio driver’s license (CDL a plus), a high school diploma or equivalent and good communication skills. Historical Society Business Meeting Is Monday January 22nd

The Suffield Township Historical Society will meet on Monday January 22nd at 6:30 PM at the Suffield Township Historical Society's museum, which is on State Route 43 directly behoind the historic Town Hall.  It will be a strictly business meeting, however, all are still welcome to attend, and light refreshments will be available.  Society President Judy Calcei said that acclaimed "Speaker Series" will resume on February 19th when Josephine Demboski and Chris Saal will discuss the Saal family and the history of the famous Walnut Gardens Farm.

 

Baseball, Softball Signups Set

Spring is just around the corner as evidenced by the announcement of signups for youth baseball and softball.  You can sign up your child at the Historic Town Hall on either Sunday January 28th from noon until 4:00 PM, or on Saturday February 3rd from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Falcon Girls Lose To League Leader Norton 59-20

On Saturday, the Falcon girls went to Norton, but left their offense at home.  They scored only four field goals in losing to the Panthers 59-20.  Field dropped to 3-10 on the year.  The Mogadore girls went to Lake Center Christian and prevailed 55-41, raising their record to 8-6.  Erika Johnson scored 20 points for the Wildcats. The Falcon boys played well enough to win on Friday evening, but just couldn't get that final gust of steam to get past the Norton Panthers.  The visiting Panthers won 69-58 in a game similar to their first match up (56-46) with Field in December.  Andrew Johnson scored 20 points and Caleb Francis had 16.  Taylor Warner led Norton with 21 points, all on seven three pointers.  The Falcons dropped to 3-4 in league and 5-8 overall, while Norton remains undefeated in the PTC-Metro Division with a 7-0 record and 10-2 overall.  Also on Friday evening the Mogadore boys went to Hartville and beat the Tigers of Lake Central Christian School 66-60 behind 24 points by Lukas Swartz.  The Wildcats are 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the PTC-County Division.  The Field and Mogadore boys play each other on Tuesday January 23rd at Mogadore.    .....   Click here to see the schedules and scores.

The FALL 2017 Newsletter is available for you to read online.  The Suffield Township Historical Society urges you to read the semi-annual newsletter which is published right here on this website.  At the bottom of this page is a link to the Society's newsletters.  Incidentally, the Historical Society is hoping you'll enjoy this newsletter online, so they might save the cost of mailing you one.  Postage and printing costs the group several hundred dollars per year.  Call any of the Society's officers to get on their e-mail list.

 

License Plate Renewals

When buying new license plates, or renewing them, be sure the registrar at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles knows that you live in Suffield Township.  If you simply state your address as Mogadore, the road tax funds, which should go to Suffield Township, will go to Mogadore Village, due to your zip code.  Keep your tax money in the township!

 

Suffield Township Website Has 170,000 Visitors Since April 1, 2015

As of January 3, 2018, Suffield Township's website had 170,034 visitors since April 1, 2015.  Since the "new" website was adopted, the daily viewership has risen from about 40 per day to over 211 per day.  Thanks for taking a look at "suffieldtownshipohio.com".  Tell your friends about us.

 

 

 

 

 

Wingfoot Lake State Park

Wingfoot Lake State Park is Suffield's only park.   It was opened by the Ohio State Parks & Recreation Department in 2009.  Goodyear had operated the park since the 1960's as a private playground for its employees and for corporate retreats.  As the company footprint grew smaller in the Akron area Goodyear decided to close the park in 2006.  To learn more about the park, such as rental of the facilities, visit the park's website:  http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/wingfootlake
