Falcons Play Hard, But Lose To Coventry, Mogadore Drops Close One To Crestwood 67-64
The Field Falcons (4-9) hosted the Coventry Comets (6-6) on Friday January 18th. After an 8-8 score, the Falcons jumped out to a 17-8 lead, only to have the Comets come back and lead at the half 27-26. The second half seesawed until the last couple minutes when Coventry took command. This was the exact situation as the Falcons loss to Ravenna last week. The highlights of the game belonged to the referring crew, who tossed out three spectators and called Field coach Dominique Sanders a technical foul for arguing a call. Jacob Lupardus led Field with 21 points, while Jacob Gartner had eleven.
On Friday January 18th the Mogadore (6-4) traveled to Mantua and lost to Crestwood 67-64. The loss jeopardizes the Wildcats chances in the Portage Trail Conference County Division, where they now have three losses.
Field Girls Lose Third In Row, Mogadore Loses Again
On Wednesday January 16th the Field (10-5) girls went to Norton and were beaten by the Panthers 47-26. It was the third loss in a row for the Falcons. Maria Sziva scored eight for Field. So sure was Norton coach Brian Miller that his team would prevail, he took three of his players from the far end of his bench and started them. The Falcons didn't play particularly well and were constantly plagued by traveling calls, errant passes, or some players refusal to pass at all. The Panthers had beaten the Falcons 71-32 back on November 13th, so the 21 point loss was an improvement from a strictly numbers perspective.
On Wednesday January 16th the Mogadore girls hosted the Tigers of Lake Center Christian School and lost 60-39, dropping their record to 1-14.
The Field girls game against Crestwood scheduled for Saturday January 19th has been postponed until Monday January 28th at 7:00 PM.

They also voted to give Suffield Township $1,000 towards the purchase of the proposed electronic sign that will be placed in front of the historic Town Hall. Township trustee Tom Calcei was on hand to accept a check for $1,000 from president John Saxe and treasurer Elizabeth Vence. Also on the agenda was the creation of a fundraiser this coming March. They have planned to sponsor a "Chili Cook Off" to be held in the Town Hall. More details on this later.
License Plate Renewals
When buying new license plates, or renewing them, be sure the registrar at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles knows that you live in Suffield Township. If you simply state your address as Mogadore, the road tax funds, which should go to Suffield Township, will go to Mogadore Village, due to your zip code. Keep your tax money in the township!

Wingfoot Lake State Park is Suffield's only park. It was opened by the Ohio State Parks & Recreation Department in 2009. Goodyear had operated the park since the 1960's as a private playground for its employees and for corporate retreats. As the company footprint grew smaller in the Akron area Goodyear decided to close the park in 2006. To learn more about the park, such as rental of the facilities, visit the park's website: http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/wingfootlake
The historic Suffield Town Hall can be rented by residents and non-residents for various events.
