About the Fiscal Officer

The Township Fiscal Officer is an elected official, independent from the Township Trustees. By law, the Fiscal Officer is required to work closely with the Trustees. While the Trustees hold legislative authority within the township, the Fiscal Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all township accounts and transactions.

The Fiscal Officer must adhere to legal requirements regarding their duties, establish efficient management practices, and follow sound accounting principles in maintaining records and accounts.

The Ohio Revised Code outlines the Fiscal Officer’s responsibilities, which include:

  • Maintaining accurate records of the proceedings of the Board of Township Trustee meetings.
  • Keeping precise records of all accounts and transactions of the township trustees, including processing payroll and issuing checks.
